Grim City
By Merrick Moore-Fields
Logline: The Black Ant tries to thrive in a city that wants to see him fail.
"Now here's an ant who got his whole world twisted."
If the US was a place where only insects exist, then it would be safe to say that Blacks are ants. We work our asses off, not to achieve the American dream, but to survive it. Because in an Ants eye, the American dream is nothing more than a giant magnifying glass: sure it looks bright, but stare at it long enough and you might find yourself getting burned to a crisp. As Ants we look above and see Wasps flying, crafting a rich society and stinging those who venture too close. We try our best to not stoop to the level of beetles, who live in filth and think of nothing but themselves. We do the best we can to avoid the Ticks, because the longer they stay, the more damage they do to us. Finally, we make absolutely sure to hide ourselves from the Ant-eaters, because to them, we are nothing more to them but food, and they have a quota to fill.
